Gratitude is one of the cornerstones to a contented life, taking a moment to be thankful for what you have and for those in your life in so important. Each month I’ll be showing my thanks to those people who continue to inspire me and who have not only changed my life but are change makers for many.
To coincide with international diabetes awareness month I would like to thank our amazing contributor Marielle Bostrom. Marielle has written some brilliant pieces about living with Type 1 diabetes and really is someone who is changing perceptions and challenging stereotypes of living with a life threatening disease.
Marielle has been a constant inspiration to me since starting this blog, when I first talked to her about it she was so enthusiastic and really believed in me. In everything I’ve ever done she has always believed in me. To know that someone has that amount of faith in you even when you don’t necessarily have it in yourself is the greatest motivation and such a special gift.
I first met Marielle when we worked together in Shanghai, I always admired her leadership style, she stood out as a manager, leader and woman who really empowered others. Despite her senior position she always treated everyone in the room as equals and listened to everyone’s point of view with respect. A skill and trait which can often be so rare in the corporate world. Since then our paths have taken us in different directions, careers and countries but I always think of her and feel gratitude for having the opportunity to know her.
She has recently moved to India one of the places close to her heart, she has also been working with some great coaches which have given her strength in both body and mind, and continues to inspire others living with Type 1 diabetes.
I just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to her for being in my life, for believing in me and for being such an inspiration not only to me but to anyone who has the luck to meet her.
